Smt Urmila Devi Ayurvedic College of Medical Sciences and Hospital offeres Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), a professional degree in medicine focused on Ayurveda. It is awarded after the study of five and a half years duration, including 1-year internship. The course is affiliated to Guru Ravidas Ayurved Uvniversity, Hoshiarpur and recognised by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, New Delhi. Smt. Urmila Devi Ayurvedic College of Medical Sciences & Hospitals is the only college in five neighbouring districts in the state and in a neighbouring state district. Our aim of BAMS Programme is to produce experts in the field of Ayurvedic system of medicine and to help ailing humanity through native wisdom in health and medicine. The curriculum of BAMS course consists of Ayurvedic subjects such as Rachana Sharira, Kriya Sharira, Dravyuaguna, Svasthavritta and Yoga, Roga Nidana and Vikriti Vijnana, Kaya Chikitsa, Kaumara Bhritya, Prasuti Tantra, Shalya Tantra, Shalakya Tantra etc. along with studies of Human Anatomy, Physiology, Metaphysics, Detailed information about Plants, Minerals and Animal Products as medicine, preparation of various herbo mineral formulations, diagnosis of pathological state of body called disease, and their management and treatment.
