Smt Urmila Devi Charitable Society (Regd.) was established in year 1999 under the stewardship of Er. Mohkam Singh Walia at VPO Kharkan, District Hoshiarpur. The Society is providing ayurvedic education to the nearby areas especially to the rural students through its colleges namely Smt. Urmila Devi Ayurvedic College of Medical Sciences and Hospital (B.A.M.S), & Smt. Urmila Devi College of D-Pharmacy (Ayu.) . Smt Urmila Devi Ayurvedic Hospital is also being run by the Society & providing medical facilities to the people of nearby villages on affordable rates. Society is also conducting free medical camps, blood camps, distribution of free medicines to the poor peoples, tree plantation & many other social activities for the needy people. Colleges managed by Smt Urmila Devi Group of  Medical Institutes are affiliated with their concerned universities like Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi & Punjab State Faculty of Ayurvedic and Unani System of Medicine, Mohali & having adequate infrastructure and instructional facilities.

Library

The College renders a well cultivated library which provides better learning with a wide range of publications of medical books related to courses taught apart from the general topics, journals and articles both from National and International level. Various magazines, journals and newspapers have been subscribed for the benefit of the students as well as faculty. Internet facility is avaibles through out the campus for the benifit of student & staff.

Canteen

A cafetaria is also maintained in the college campus to cater to the daily requirements of the staff, students & hospital patients. Hygienically prepared meals besides snacks, soft drinks, fresh juice, tea and coffee are available. The material prepared & the cleanliness of the canteen is checked daily to maintain the quality & hygiene.

Operation Theatre

A well equipped operation theatre with most modern techniques and latest instruments with highly experienced surgeons is ready for the department of Shalya Tantra, shalakya tantra and obstetric.

An ambulance van equipped with mobile phone available at a phone call.

Transport

Transport facility is also available for the students & staff for daily use and to organize camps, going out for competition, picnic etc.

Playground

A big playground with facilities to play different games such as Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket & Athletic track etc. are situated with in the college premises. Indoor games like table tennis, chess, etc are also available.

Auditorium

The campus has multipurpose state of art auditorium which is the hub of academic and cultural activities. The hall is fully equipped with latest facilities and has capacity of about 250 students for academic seminars and discussions.

Hostel Facilities

To cater to the needs of outstation students College has provided hostel facilities within the college campus. College has separate hostel for boys and girls. Various facilities have been provided in hostel and every care is taken to ensure a comfortable and happy stay for resident students. Nutritious hygienically prepared food is served. Electricity and water facilities are provided round the clock. Special solar system is installed for student's facility.

Extra Curricular Activities

The students are encouraged to take part in Intra-state and Inter-state College games, various cultural activities like Drama, Singing, Dancing, Poetry, Declamation contests, Debates and Quiz programmes etc. The college has made provisions for the students to take part in such activities..
